On September 13, 2024, 3rd-year students of the International Law specialty of the Kazakh group, under the guidance of professors of the Department of International Law Tusupova A. Zh. and Nysanbekova L. B., held a discussion in the Lex discussion club on the topic "Efficiency of the construction of nuclear power plants in the Republic of Kazakhstan".
President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as part of the traditional message to the people of Kazakhstan, announced a national referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant in the country. The President of the country connected the use of nuclear energy with the growing global energy deficit and Kazakhstan's urgent need for reliable, clean energy sources. The participants in the discussion considered the economic benefits and possible environmental risks of this project. First-year students also took part in the event, which made the discussion even more vibrant.
