“Legal journalism: past, present, future”

1 november, 2024

In November 2024, the republic's renowned legal publications – The Legal Newspaper (Юридическая газета) and The Law Gazette (Заң газеті), published by LLP "ZANMEDIA.KZ," are celebrating their 30th anniversary. On November 1, 2024, a conference titled Legal Journalism: Past, Present, and Future was successfully held in the conference hall of the House of Friendship.

The director of LLP "ZAN Media Corporation," Dosymbek Utegaliev, gave the opening speech. The event included speeches from politicians, government officials, veteran journalists, and legal scholars. A documentary film commemorating the 30th anniversary of LLP ZAN Media Corporation and its legal publications The Legal Newspaper, The Law Gazette, and The Law Journal (ЗАҢ журналы) sparked a wave of fond memories among the anniversary event attendees.

The conference also featured an award ceremony for participants, with commemorative gifts and a presentation of the book History. Person. Lesson. It is well-known that the founding of The Legal Newspaper was initiated by the first Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, N.A. Shaikenov, who served as its first editor-in-chief. He envisioned the creation of the first professional legal publication, which would unite government institutions in promoting legal reforms. Together with public figures, well-known journalists developed the concept for the publication, aimed at educating the public on legal matters.

Today, The Legal Newspaper and The Law Gazette of New Kazakhstan boast professional teams of talented and creative journalists who make each issue unique and of high quality. These newspapers have become a significant platform, with the legal community extensively reading and discussing their articles.

I had the honor of congratulating these esteemed legal publications from a prestigious platform on their milestone. The faculty of the law department at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, particularly the leading departments of Theory and History of State and Law, and Constitutional and Administrative Law, works closely with both corporate publications, and the dedicated journalists always provide us with invaluable support. I would like to extend my gratitude to these professionals, including B.N. Tokhtakhunov, A. Sembaev, and D.B. Amirova, and wish them continued success and creative collaboration!
