"Supporting Young Scientists in Kazakhstan: Achievements of KazNU Students and the Importance of Mechanics at the Republican Research Competition in Almaty"

The second stage of the XVI Republican Subject Olympiad and Research Competition among university students, organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was held in Almaty. This competition was aimed at supporting and advancing science and innovation in the country, as well as identifying talented and promising young scientists. Students from various universities across Kazakhstan participated, demonstrating a high level of scientific preparation and creative approaches to research.

One of the central areas of the competition was the "Mechanics" program, where students from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) took top prizes. These achievements highlight the quality of specialist training and the level of research conducted at KazNU, one of the country’s leading universities. The winners of the competition in the “Mechanics” program were:

  • 1st Place: Alina Nurlybekovna Abdidina (scientific supervisor:Erzhan Kelesovich Belyaev) and Elizaveta Igorevna Karlina (scientific supervisor: Abzal Niyazbekuly Seitov)
  • 2nd Place: Akhan Batenov (scientific supervisor: Makpal Orazbayevna Nogaibayeva), Renat Erlanovich Yerlanov(scientific supervisor: Makpal Orazbayevna Nogaibayeva), and Nazereke Bakytzhanovna Momysh (scientific supervisor: Aidarkhan Kaltayev),
  • 3rd Place: Zhalyn Yesbol (scientific supervisor: Dinara Eleusizovna Turalina),  and Bekzhan Jaksabayevich Aldan(scientific supervisor: Karlygash Abylkhakovna Alibayeva)

The awards ceremony took place during a faculty science council meeting, where Doszhan Nursultan Sagynayuly, the dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, personally congratulated the students and presented their well-deserved diplomas. In his speech, he emphasized the significance of research in the field of mechanics for Kazakhstan and highly praised the achievements of the students. According to him, winning this prestigious competition not only highlights the students’ qualifications but also reflects the high level of academic preparation and educational programs at KazNU.

The accomplishments of KazNU students affirm the university's commitment to preparing highly skilled specialists who can effectively address current challenges and contribute to the country's development. The competition promoted scientific activities among young people and underscored the importance of mechanics research for Kazakhstan, particularly in the context of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) to ensure quality education.

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan continues to support initiatives that enhance the intellectual potential of young people, strengthen Kazakhstan's position in the scientific and technical fields, and prepare highly qualified specialists who are in demand worldwide.
