Team building for first year students within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Purpose of the Event: To familiarize students with the biography and achievements of the distinguished statesman Dinmukhamed Akhmedovich Kunaev in order to cultivate historical and cultural awareness, as well as to strengthen their sense of patriotism and respect for Kazakhstan’s history.
This week, a group of 1st-year students from the “Translation in International and Legal Relations” program at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, accompanied by their advisor, visited the museum dedicated to the life and legacy of Dinmukhamed Akhmedovich Kunaev. The event took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, allowing students to immerse themselves in the historical context and learn about Kunaev’s crucial role in the development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the tour, students were introduced to Kunaev’s biography and career path, which was instrumental in the establishment and progress of Kazakhstan as part of the Soviet Union. Museum staff presented the stages of his professional life, highlighting his career journey from a mining engineer to the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan. Participants also learned about his contributions to the country’s economy and industry and how his humanistic approach and respect for culture helped foster interethnic relations within Kazakhstan.
The museum visit left a positive impression on the students, who appreciated the opportunity to learn more about one of the most significant leaders of the 20th century, whose contributions to the country’s development are invaluable. The welcoming atmosphere allowed students to freely share their impressions, ask questions to the guide, and enthusiastically take photos for keepsakes. These photos will undoubtedly become cherished memories of their student life.
The visit to the Dinmukhamed Kunaev Museum was both an educational and meaningful experience for students studying international and legal aspects of translation. This event enabled them to deepen their understanding of Kazakhstan’s history and culture, recognize the importance of national values, and sparked a greater interest in further exploration of national history.
