SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities"

On October 23, 2024, from 12:00 to 12:50, specialists from the group "6B02303 - Foreign Philology" held an event with a group of third-year students under the guidance of curator G.K. Dairabekova. The event was devoted to "SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities." "SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities" is one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals aimed at ensuring the safety, inclusivity, and sustainable development of cities and communities. The main goals of urban development were discussed with the students: Sustainable Urbanization: effective urban development planning, infrastructure renewal, and consideration of population growth. Affordable Housing: ensuring residents have access to affordable housing and improving housing quality. Improving the environmental situation in the city through the planting of greenery on roofs and walls of buildings. Organizing eco-gardens and vegetable patches in central and residential areas. Transport and Mobility: developing sustainable public transport systems, reducing the negative impact of automobiles. This means protecting the city from polluted air. Urban Ecological Planning: increasing green spaces, implementing eco-friendly technologies, improving the ecological resilience of cities. Green spaces reduce stress and promote increased physical activity. Green infrastructure boosts tourism and land value. Social Inclusion: protecting the rights of all residents, especially vulnerable groups, and improving their quality of life.
Increasing green spaces and implementing eco-friendly technologies are important aspects of developing sustainable cities and communities. These directions help to maintain ecological balance, improve the quality of life for residents, and combat climate change.
