International Scientific and Practical Conference

On November 22, 2024, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an international scientific and practical conference on "Modern challenges and prospects of customs administration in the context of digital transformation", dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Doctor of Law, Professor S.T. Alibekov. The conference is also timed to the 90th anniversary of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University and is being implemented in the context of the Message of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the people of Kazakhstan "Fair Kazakhstan: law and order, economic growth, public optimism".

The event was organized by the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law of the Faculty of Law of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The conference was attended by leading scientists, practitioners and government representatives from Kazakhstan and foreign countries, including Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

- A.K. Ortembayev, Head of the Center for the Judicial System and Law Enforcement Agencies, with the topic "Some issues of criminal liability for violation of customs legislation";
- A.M. Serikbayev, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the E.A. Buketov Karaganda University, Candidate of Law, Professor;
- N.Saulen, Chief Specialist of the Institute of Parliamentarism at the Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), with a report on "The role of digital transformation in customs administration";
- A.S. Avtonomov, Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations of the Griboyedov Moscow University, Doctor of Law, Professor;
- T.D. Tebaev, Acting Head of the Department of Analysis of the Effectiveness of Legislation of the Institute of Legislation and Legal Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In addition, the conference was attended by leading scientists and experts from Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and other countries, as well as representatives of customs authorities.

The conference provided a platform for discussing topical issues in the field of customs administration, especially in the context of digital transformation, and allowed for the exchange of experience between scientists, practitioners and government agencies from different countries. This conference was held as part of the implementation of the Address of the Head of State Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev to the people of Kazakhstan “Fair Kazakhstan: Law and Order, Economic Growth, Public Optimism”, as part of the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals aimed at building a peaceful, open and democratic society in the interests of its sustainable development.
