As part of the international Forum on History and Civilization, Associate Professor of the Department of Chinese Studies D.B. Dauyen met with Nobel Prize winner in Literature Professor Mo Yan. Mo Yan is a contemporary Chinese writer, Honorary Doctor of Philology of the Open University of Hong Kong. Chinese writer Mo Yan was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for his work as a writer "who with hallucinatory realism merges folk taleshistory and the contemporary". Critics say that the secret of Mo Yan's success lies in turning the crude and earthly into something refined. Mo Yan has made his place in the history of Chinese literature by producing works which deals with human feelings while revisiting the history. The writer practically chronicles Chinese history of the 20th century, mixing myths and legends.
