Report on the event dedicated to World AIDS Day 2024 among 1st-2nd year students of the Faculty of Medicine of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

Event purpose
• Raising students' awareness of HIV/AIDS problems.
• Forming a responsible attitude to their health among young people.
• Developing professional knowledge of future medical workers about the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of HIV.
Form of the event
The event included the following activities:
1. Lecture part:
o Report by infectious disease specialist M.S. Sharipova on the topic: "Modern aspects of HIV infection/AIDS".
2. Interactive part:
o Quiz on knowledge of the main aspects of HIV/AIDS (history, transmission routes, myths and facts). (KAHOOT!)
3. Preventive action:
o Distribution of information booklets and leaflets.
4. Creative component:
o Poster competition on the theme "WORLD AIDS DAY 2024".
Results of the event
• Awareness: Participants received up-to-date information on methods of HIV prevention, treatment and diagnosis.
• Active participation: More than 95% of students participated in interactive sessions, asked questions and participated in discussions.
Conclusion and recommendations
Holding such events helps students develop a conscious attitude to public health issues and professional training for working with risk groups. It is recommended to include similar events in the annual calendar of educational and preventive programs of the university.
