The lecturer of the Chair of Turkology and History of Oriental Countries participated in the Women's Forum of the Turkic World

From 27 November to 1 December 2024, Nurat Ilyas, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Turkology and History of Oriental Countries, visited Istanbul University in Istanbul, Turkey, and the Eastern Mediterranean University in Girne, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, where he participated as a researcher and translator in the ‘Women's Forum in the Turkic World’. The forum brought together representatives of Turkic countries to discuss issues of culture, education and co-operation.

As part of the event, Nurat Ilyas conducted interviews with Ersin Tatar, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and Zihat Yaycı, former Commander of the Turkish Navy. The interviews focused on current issues of the Turkic world and the situation in the Middle East and were published on a YouTube channel dedicated to Turkic Studies under the title ‘On Turkic Peace and Syrian Issues’ .

The lecturer was also awarded certificates from the Umay Ana Foundation, headed by a professor at Istanbul University, and the Eastern Mediterranean University for his participation in the research seminar ‘Research Writing Methods’. The seminar programme included 72 hours of training in online and offline formats.

The trip not only strengthened academic ties but also contributed to the popularisation of research related to the Turkic world in the international academic environment.
