I feel very proud

9 january, 2025

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, which first opened in 1934, is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, and the Faculty of Oriental Studies is also celebrating its 35th anniversary. As one of the teachers who have been working at this university for the past 10 years, I would also like to sincerely congratulate Al-Farabi University on the 90th anniversary and the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

90 years is not a short time, it's a long time. The University survived the Soviet period and is now experiencing a new era in independent Kazakhstan, where it has achieved outstanding achievements. KazNU is recognized by others as one of the best universities not only in Central Asia, but also in the CIS. In particular, over the past 10 years, the university has been striving for new innovations and development, and as a result, the university's rating has risen in the international education market and has been recognized as a competitive university. I am also very proud to work at KazNU, which is recognized among the best universities.

The symbol of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, as can be seen from the name of the university, is the great scientist of the East Abu Nasr al-Farabi. Working throughout the 9th and 10th centuries, he lived the life of a scientist to such an extent that he was recognized even in medieval Europe, and his life and about 200 research papers that he left behind are used as research subjects and excellent academic materials by the current generation of scientists in the scientific community. It is no coincidence that in October 1991, on the eve of independence, the leading university of Kazakhstan was named after this great scientist. Over the past 90 years, the university has achieved remarkable development. It has a spacious campus comparable to the campus of any other university in the CIS, excellent teaching staff and specialties that meet national and modern needs.

I would also like to sincerely congratulate the Faculty of Oriental Studies, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. Although I have only 10 years of experience at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, I highly appreciate the 35 years of achievements of our faculty. It is the best scientific and educational center in the field of Oriental studies in Kazakhstan, 8 oriental languages (Arabic, Persian, Korean, Chinese, Turkish, etc.) are taught at four departments, and students also gain knowledge in the field of history, culture, literature, etc. Before graduation, students gain international experience through academic mobility programs, language practice, and double degrees in the countries they study, and gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the country's language, history, and culture.

I am very proud to work at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the best university in Kazakhstan with a 90-year history. There is a saying in Korea that "a tower built with hard work does not collapse so easily." I am confident that the academic and educational potential accumulated over a long period of time will become an important breeding ground for turning Farabi University into the best university in the world.
