The International Winter School for Young Scholars was held at the Faculty of International Relations from January 29 to 30, 2025.

The International Winter School for Young Scholars "The Contribution of the World Trade Organization to Achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals" dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the International Relations Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was held at the Faculty of International Relations from January 29 to 30, 2025.

The purpose of the Winter School: improving the research skills of young scientists, exchanging experience with foreign universities, and collaborating scientific schools in the field of international economic law.
The Winter School was organized within the framework of the WTO and International Trade Law Center and the China-Kazakhstan Joint Educational and Research Center for International and Comparative Law, operating under the Department of International Law of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The Winter School was held in a hybrid format with online and offline participation with the support of the partner university: Harbin Institute of Technology.
The event was moderated by Doctor PhD, Director of the WTO and International Trade Law Center - Otynshiyeva A.A.
At the opening of the Winter School, the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, candidate of legal sciences, Associate Professor Sairambayeva Zh.T. delivered a welcoming speech. During the Winter School, the speakers included leading scientists - experts in the field of international economic law, international environmental law, international public and private law - Doctor of Law, Professor Zhao Hongrui, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law of the Harbin University of Technology; Candidate of Law, Professor of the Harbin University of Technology Wang Hong Wei; Associate Professor of the Harbin University of Technology Wang Chao; Doctor of Law, Professor Aidarbayev S.Zh., Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Candidate of Legal sciences, Associate Professor Sairambayeva Zh.T., Head of the Department of International Law, Candidate of Legal sciences, Associate Professor Altayeva K.Zh., PhD Baimagambetova Z.M., PhD Nyssanbekova L.B., and young scholars - PhD Otynshiyeva A.A., PhD Baitukayeva D.U. The discussions covered key topics such as the development of WTO law in the digital age, trade facilitation, sustainable development and international trade law.
Doctoral students from Harbin University of Technology and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University presented their research, where they were able to exchange experiences and receive expert advice.
The hybrid format facilitated a dynamic academic exchange of views, allowing speakers and participants from China and Kazakhstan to collaborate, debate and propose solutions to pressing global issues, strengthening the role of the WTO in sustainable world trade.
At the end of the International Winter School, all participants and speakers were awarded certificates.
