SDG 1 and SDG 3 in Practice: Charity Fair at KazNU

On January 30, 2025, a charity fair was held on the first floor of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics building at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was organized by the public foundation "Komek." Students and volunteers of the foundation, adhering to all sanitary and organizational standards, independently prepared various goods that were put up for sale. The event attracted a large number of participants, including students and faculty members, which was a testament to the broad support for the initiative. The main goal of the fair was to raise funds to provide financial or material assistance to low-income families and people with disabilities.
The "Komek" foundation actively works with those in need of support. Every week, volunteers visit orphanages, help children with their studies, and provide them with support. They also visit nursing homes, offering moral and emotional support to elderly people. The foundation regularly organizes charity fairs to support low-income families and needy regions. Additionally, volunteers participate in cleaning mosques on Fridays. The primary mission of the organization is to encourage students to be socially active and to assist vulnerable social groups.
The charity fair became an important social initiative aimed at addressing current social issues. During the event, students discussed important topics, in particular, SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, demonstrating real examples of their implementation. The fair was successful: visitors not only bought useful goods but also contributed to the charitable cause. The funds raised were directed toward helping those in need, serving as a tangible example of social responsibility and support for vulnerable groups. Thanks to the efforts of the volunteers, the event was organized at a high level, demonstrating solidarity and students' readiness to actively participate in social initiatives.
