I, Zhanadil Akbota, studied in China, in the city of Jining, during the 1st semester of my 3rd year through an academic mobility program. This dream and unforgettable experience were made possible by the teachers of our Department of Sinology, who shared information about the opportunities and prepared us for this trip. Thanks to the knowledge we received from our teachers, we did not feel insecure abroad, as we were ready for everything. During these six months, I improved my Chinese language skills and became more acquainted with Chinese culture, which I had long been interested in: tea etiquette, cuisine, calligraphy, mythology, and Chinese martial arts (wushu). All these activities were included in the curriculum. I also had the opportunity to appear twice on Chinese television in a program about Chinese culture, where we visited a workshop for creating hulu (calabash), the museum of the central canal, etc. I met many wonderful people from whom I learned a lot and, as they told me, taught them a lot as well. We still keep in touch with these friends on WeChat. Additionally, we managed to visit cities such as Shanghai, Qufu, Heze, and Jinan. Each city is unique in its own way, with its own atmosphere, traditions, and history. Each of our trips was filled with joy and new impressions.
