Methods of Analyzing Chinese Characters and Their Importance in Language Learning

On February 4, 2025, senior lecturer of the Department of Chinese Studies at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Ardak Kaliolla, held a methodological seminar on the topic “Methods of Analyzing Chinese Characters.” The seminar was dedicated to a relevant and important topic. During the event, methods of analyzing Chinese characters were discussed, including their structure, meaning, and phonetic features.
This process is based on several approaches: Graphical analysis – identifying radicals and additional elements that make up a character. Etymological research – examining the historical development and changes of a character. Phonetic analysis – determining the pronunciation and sound components of a character. Semantic analysis – understanding the meaning of a character depending on the context. This method helps learners of the Chinese language better master the writing system and understand the logic of Chinese characters.
The recommendations presented during the seminar are of great importance for both theoretical and practical activities. The event became a significant platform for exchanging opinions, discussions, and generating new ideas, confirming its relevance for all participants.
