The role of Artificial Intelligence in the implementation of 17 SDGs was discussed at the Faculty of International Relations

On February 6, 2025, the Academic regional resource center for information aupport about the UN at the Faculty of International Relations of al-Farabi KazNU with the support of 4th-year student Liana Dugashvili, organized a master class on the topic "AI for Sustainable Development Goals".
During the event, various aspects of the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in everyday life, medicine, architecture and educational institutions were considered. Special attention was paid to the impact of AI on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 on improving the accessibility and effectiveness of educational processes, SDG 8 reflecting the impact of AI on the labor market, process automation and job creation, as well as SDG 9 related to the role of AI in the development of smart technologies, innovative economy and sustainable infrastructure.
During the discussion, the participants discussed the use of AI in employment management, the development of smart transportation systems and improving the sustainability of infrastructure. The issues of resource management, reducing social inequality and improving the quality of infrastructure were also discussed.
Special attention was paid to the ethical aspects of using AI, the risks associated with the digital divide, as well as the impact of AI on employment.
