A Guest Lecture on New Tourism Technologies Held at Al-Farabi KazNU
On February 11, 2025, a guest lecture by the Public Advisor of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, President of the National Association of Industry and Tourism, Shamil Raushan Shamilkyzy, was held at the Al-Farabi Library of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was organized by the Department of Recreational Geography of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management.
The main purpose of the lecture was to introduce faculty members and students to new innovative technologies in the tourism sector, as well as to the SILKROAD platform designed for guides and interpreters. The speaker highlighted digital solutions in the tourism industry that contribute to the development of professional competencies, improvement of tourism services, and the creation of new job opportunities.

SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, as the development of the tourism industry helps increase employment opportunities for young people and graduates.
SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, since digitalization in tourism and platforms like SILKROAD help modernize the service sector and create a competitive labor market.
SDG 4 – Quality Education, as enhancing students’ digital literacy in tourism prepares them to become highly qualified specialists in demand in the job market.
Students and faculty showed great interest in the technologies presented, asking questions about employment opportunities, additional training, and the integration of innovations into the educational process. This lecture was an important step in strengthening the connection between science, education, and the tourism industry in Kazakhstan.
