On February 5, 2025, an open lesson on the topic “Sayings of Al-Farabi” was held with second-year students of the Geodesy and Cartography program. The goal of the lesson was to promote the works of the great thinker and scholar Al-Farabi, understand the deep meaning of his sayings, and foster students’ spiritual and moral values.
During the lesson, students were introduced to a brief overview of Al-Farabi’s life and works. The primary focus was on his sayings, each of which was analyzed and discussed in depth. Students were divided into groups, and each group selected a specific saying to analyze its meaning and relevance in today’s world.
In the interactive part of the lesson, students actively exchanged opinions and engaged in discussions. Special attention was given to Al-Farabi’s quote: “Being educated is the best gift a person can give to themselves,” emphasizing the value of knowledge. Another key discussion focused on his statement: “A person should first receive an education before acquiring knowledge, as knowledge without education is the enemy of humanity.”
The open lesson was conducted at a high level, with students actively participating and freely expressing their thoughts. Similar events are planned in the future to contribute to students’ comprehensive development.
