Round Table Discussion on the topic: "Environmental Problems of Kazakhstan" (SDG 13: Climate Action)

On February 24, 2025, the Faculty of Biology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) the teachers of the   Department of Foreign Languages  held  a round table discussion on the topic: "Environmental Problems of Kazakhstan". The event was dedicated to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13: Climate Action. The event aim was to  highlight the important  environmental challenges facing the country.

The  students and  the teachers of Al-Farabi  KazNU, as well as the  invited participants from M.Kh. Dulaty Taraz Regional University (TarGU) and I. Zhansugurov Zhetysu University (ZhGU) took part in the event. The discussions focused on air pollution, water scarcity, energy conservation, and the prospects of nuclear energy development in Kazakhstan.

The interactive discussion on the topic:  "The Role of Youth in Environmental Activism: What Can We Do Now?" sparked a  great interest among the  participants. Various initiatives were proposed, including educational programs, volunteer clean-up campaigns, and tree-planting efforts.

The organizers emphasized the significance of the event and expressed gratitude to all the  participants. The round table discussion  concluded that youth play a key role in addressing environmental issues and can make a meaningful contribution to sustainable development.
