"Books as a way to oneself and the world"

On February 28, 2025, the grand opening of the "Books as a path to oneself and the World" contest took place from March 01 to April 01, 2025 as part of the spiritual and educational marathon "10 books in 30 days" among 1st year students. The event is held as part of the promotion of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 4 "Quality Education", the celebration of the 90th anniversary of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the 70th anniversary of the Faculty of Law.
The participants are 1st year students of the Kazakh and Russian departments.
Organizers: PhD, Associate Professor S.K. Sansyzbayeva and senior lecturer of the Department of Civil Law and Civil Procedure, Labor Law A.A.
Urisbayeva.
The goal is to instill in the younger generation a love of reading by reviewing and analyzing works popular among young readers, as well as recommending the necessary books of various genres for future development.
Tasks:
- development of analytical and critical thinking among young readers;
- improving communication skills and discussion culture;
- development of logic, expansion of vocabulary, improvement of literacy and skills to create coherent texts.
Expected result:
To form a stable habit of reading works that set life guidelines for students.
Stages of the marathon:
01.03-01.04.2025 – 1 month;
02/28/2025 – opening ceremony;
"10 books in 30 days": reading suggested books in 4 directions:
* fiction (novels, novellas, short stories);
* Non-fiction literature (nonfiction: biography and autobiography, memoirs, essays; popular science literature);
* motivational literature (successful career building, self-development, goal setting, personal life improvement, self-effectiveness improvement);
* practical literature (business, public speaking, art, psychology).
