The importance of newspapers and magazines in human lifе

On February 25, 2025, the  4th-year student of  6B01701-Kazakh language and literature major, Raisova Aknur conducted a demo  lesson for the  9th grade students on the topic:  «The importance of newspapers and magazines in human life» based on her pedagogical experience at JOO High School Almaty.

The lesson was organized as a  part of SDG 4. «Quality education». The lesson aimed at  explaining  the students that newspapers and magazines are media that play an important role in human life and  make a great contribution to the information development of society, the dissemination of knowledge, the formation of culture and civil society. The students expressed their point of view within the framework of this text in accordance with the topic and, accordingly, expressed a critical opinion and gave an assessment. The lesson began with the greeting of the students and warming-up activity. Then using  special newspaper documents, in which the names of the publications «Dala ualayaty», «Aikap» and «Kazakh», which took place in the history of Kazakhstan, were hidden, the students  were divided into three groups. Through the questions of the «Let's remember the past» quiz, the passed topic was worked out. Three groups were given special topics based on the proposed text. The students created a poster based on these themes, and the name and design of the new Newspaper became a creative work. To summarize the lesson, questions were asked about working through the «Quizizz» system. Using the «Climbing to the Top» approach,  the students rated each other on a 10-point scale. At the end of the lesson, a «Birdhouse lesson» approach was applied to feedback, in which students summarized their opinions about the lesson.
