On January 31, 2025 at 2 pm, an event on the topic: "Intellectual quiz" dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was organized by the senior teachers of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies Torekhanova R.A. and Tairova G.A. with the 1st and the 2nd year students of "Translation Studies" and "Foreign Philology" majors.
The event aimed at developing analytical and critical thinking among students; forming a team spirit and improve communication skills, as well as increasing the students' interest in intellectual games and knowledge in various fields. The students competed among themselves in 4 teams, each of which consisted of 3 students. Also, the event was attended by the senior teachers of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies, who were members of the jury: Iskakova G.N. and Alpysbayeva A.E.
The intellectual game consisted of three rounds, each of which was devoted to a specific topic. During the first round, video presentations of each team were shown, during which they introduced themselves. The second round was devoted to questions of varying complexity about the history of KazNU, while during the third round, students answered questions of varying complexity about the culture of Great Britain. Teams received points for correct answers. According to the results of the game, the winner was the 2nd-year team of the Translation Studies specialty, which scored the highest number of points. The game was held in a friendly and competitive atmosphere. Participants actively discussed the questions and shared their knowledge, which contributed to strengthening the team spirit. Many students noted that such events help not only in learning, but also in establishing friendly ties.
The event was successfully held and aroused great interest among students. Participants expressed a desire to continue such meetings in the future. It is recommended to organize the following intellectual games, taking into account the experience gained and feedback from the participants.
