How Can Students Develop Fashion Culture?

Fashion culture is not just about appearance—it is a reflection of intellect, taste, and self-expression. For students of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, fashion serves as a powerful tool for self-presentation, creativity, and confidence.

Recently, students had the opportunity to attend a lecture by the renowned fashion historian Alexander Vassiliev. The event, held at Rixos Almaty, featured two unique monodramas that captivated fashion and art enthusiasts:

• “Secrets of Fashion Houses” – an engaging performance revealing the mysteries and legends of iconic designers such as Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, and Gianni Versace.
• “The East and Fashion: The Influence of the East on European Style” – a fascinating insight into how Eastern culture and art have shaped European fashion.

Kazakhstan has a rich cultural heritage, and incorporating national elements—such as traditional ornaments, Kazakh jewelry, and ethnic patterns—into modern fashion can create a distinctive and unique style.

Alexander Vassiliev is well known for his theatrical lectures and profound knowledge of fashion history, making this event particularly valuable for students and fashion enthusiasts.
