"Youth and Decent Work: The Key to Sustainable Development"

On March 11, 2025, at 11:00, in the assembly hall of Dormitory No. 17 of the Faculty of Philology, the senior lecturer of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies, Meruert Ongarbaeva, held an event with the first-year students majoring in Foreign Philology (Western Languages). The event was dedicated to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8: "Decent Work and Economic Growth."
Together with the lecturer, the students discussed the key aspects related to productive employment, fair working conditions, and sustainable economic growth. A main focus was made on labor rights protection, the prevention of worker exploitation, equal opportunities in the labor market, and the importance of professional development.
During the event, a video was shown illustrating the key aspects of the topic. The SDG 8 objectives and the impact of decent work on economic growth and social well-being were clearly demonstrated, sparking active discussion among the students. The senior lecturer Meruert Ongarbaeva explained what steps students could take to contribute to this goal achievement and made an accent on volunteer work significance.
