Department of Chinese Studies Held a Seminar on Oil and Gas Terminology in the Chinese Language

On March 13, 2025, the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a scientific seminar titled “Theoretical Foundations of Research on Oil and Gas Terminology in Modern Chinese.” The event was organized by the Department of Chinese Studies as part of the research conducted by first-year doctoral student Gulnira Rakhimbaeva in the specialty 8D02209 – “Oriental Studies.”

The seminar brought together professors, doctoral students, master’s students, and researchers interested in the development of scientific and technical terminology. Participants discussed key aspects of studying specialized terminology in China, including its structure, formation methods, and theoretical approaches to analysis.

Doctoral student Gulnira Rakhimbaeva presented her research findings, highlighting modern methods for studying oil and gas terminology. Her presentation covered the linguistic structure of specialized terms, their cognitive, communicative, and functional-semantic characteristics, as well as comparative-historical aspects of analysis.

As a result of the seminar, it was decided to prepare a  scientific publication and organize additional meetings for an in-depth study of the topic.
