A Creative Meeting with Kazakh Poetesses Zhazira Akhmetova and Mergul Asylkhanova

On March 13, 2025, within the framework of SDG 4: Quality education, the first-year doctoral students of “Literary Studies” major at the Faculty of Philology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a creative meeting with Zhazira Akhmetova and Mergul Asylkhanova. The meeting topic was “Arularga zharasady erkelik…”. The event was opened by one of the event’s organizers, poetess and journalist Aigul Aidarbekova, who welcomed the participants and the students and wished them success.
During the creative meeting, important and engaging topics were discussed, such as the poetic craft, the poet’s creative process, theme selection in poetry, and the specifics of the poetry genre. The participants sang songs, recited poems, and analyzed poets’ narratives. Mergul Asylkhanova's husband the poet and the singer Yeldos Amandos, dedicated a heartfelt song to the audience. The students and the guests actively participated in discussions, asked the poets various questions about how to become a poet and freely conversed with each other as both poets and readers.
The event was organized by the first-year PhD students specializing in “8D02304 – Literary Studies”: Serikzhanova Marzhan, Abdeldayeva Aidana, Akgul Aidarbekova, Kalybekkyzy Samal, and Ziyadabek Nurasyl. At the end of the meeting, the poets wished the students creative success and expressed their gratitude. As a result of this inspiring event and open dialogue between poets and young readers, the students gained valuable insights into creativity, writing mastery, and the artistic process.
The evening concluded with words of gratitude from the readers and organizers to Ainur Muratovna Balaubayeva, the head of the A. Chekhov Central City Library.
This evening was different from the previous ones. We believe that this event will contribute to students’ understanding of the system of spiritual values, as well as the formation of beauty and wisdom in a person’s character.
