Greatness Begins with Mothers

On March 13, 2025, the Anağa Qurmet Museum hosted a special ceremony to inaugurate a dedicated corner honoring the mother of Jaxylyk Ushkempirov, a Greco-Roman wrestler and Kazakhstan’s first Olympic champion. This event aligns with SDG 5: Gender Equality.
This commemorative space was established to highlight the life and achievements of the legendary athlete while also showcasing the profound influence of his mother, who played a key role in his upbringing. During the event, portraits and memorabilia of Jaxylyk Ushkempirov’s mother, Küntöre Ömirbaqyzy, and his grandmother, Bätima, were donated to the museum’s collection. Additionally, the public had the opportunity to view the wrestler’s personal belongings and prestigious awards.
This meaningful initiative is a tribute to an exceptional athlete who elevated the Kazakh spirit and to Kazakh mothers as a whole. Faculty members from the Department of Kazakh Literature and Literary Theory also participated in this significant event, contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage.
