Farabi University

My experience at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has been incredibly enriching and inspiring. From the moment I arrived on campus, I was struck by the blend of old and new. The university’s central location in Almaty places me right in the heart of a city that combines Central Asian heritage with modernity. The grand, historical buildings on campus reflect this fusion, with cutting-edge facilities that make every study session comfortable and engaging. As a student in the Oriental Studies department, I feel fortunate to be surrounded by a diverse group of scholars who are passionate about Central Asian and Middle Eastern history and culture. The professors here are not only deeply knowledgeable but also approachable, often engaging with students outside of class to discuss academic ideas or simply share their insights on various topics. But it’s not just academics. The campus life is full of energy. From cultural festivals celebrating Kazakh traditions to smaller gatherings organized by student clubs, there’s always something happening. I’ve even had the chance to learn Kazakh more intimately through informal conversations with classmates, which has been both fun and immensely rewarding. Living in the student dormitory has also been an essential part of my experience. It’s where I’ve formed lifelong friendships with people from all corners of the globe. These bonds have made my time here more meaningful, as we share not just academic knowledge, but also our unique cultural experiences. Al-Farabi is not just a place to study, it’s a space to grow, both as a scholar and as an individual. It’s a place where knowledge is respected, curiosity is nurtured, and where the world feels just a little smaller, thanks to the connections made here.
