The Department of Chinese Studies Held a Preliminary Dissertation Defense

On March 25, 2025, the Department of Chinese Studies held an extended meeting to discuss the preliminary defense of a dissertation by doctoral candidate Anar Ibraimova. Her research, titled "Linguocultural Features of Etiquette Norms in the Kazakh and Chinese Languages," sparked great interest among scholars.
The meeting was attended by Aida Kenzhebayeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Philology at Abylai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages, Candidate of Philological Sciences; Tursyn Gabitov, Professor of the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science at KazNU, Doctor of Philosophy; Bayan Zhubatova, Professor of the Department of Middle Eastern and South Asian Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies at KazNU, Doctor of Philology; Zubayda Shadkam, Professor of the same department, Doctor of Philology, as well as faculty members and academic staff.
The participants shared their opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of the dissertation. In addition to the invited experts, informal reviewers included Nabizhan Mukhametkhanuly, Daulet Fatimabibi, Anipina Aliya, Abdurakhyn Nurkhalyk, and Madiev Daniyar, who provided feedback on the structure, writing style, research methods, and sources used in the study.
Anar Ibrahimova made every effort to provide comprehensive answers to the comments and questions raised. Concluding the session, her scientific advisor, Rauan Dossymbekova, expressed gratitude for the valuable insights and emphasized that the dissertation would be further refined based on the received recommendations.
