"Historical Situation during the Time of Margaska-zhyrau"

Within the framework of SDG 4: Quality Education a demo seminar and lecture on the topic: "Historical Situation during the Time of Margaska-zhyrau" were held at the Department of Kazakh Literature and Literary Theory of the Faculty of Philology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The seminar was conducted under the guidance of PhD in Philology, Professor B.S. Sarbasov, and Senior Lecturer, Doctor of Philology G.Zh. Bolatova, for the 3rd-year students majoring in "Kazakh Philology" and 1st-year doctoral students in "Literary Studies" (8D02304). The main goal of the seminar was to study the works by Margaska-zhyrau in more depth, to determine his place in the tradition of zhyrau, to analyze the meaning and significance of his works, and to promote national values. The seminar aimed at helping the students understand the historical, literary, and educational value of the works of zhyrau.
PhD student G.M. Mujigova first took attendance and asked questions based on the material covered in previous lessons. During the organizational phase, the students were divided into groups using the "CAST LOTS" platform. The open class was held in the format of a competition consisting of four stages: "Beige," "Doda," "Video Question," "Who is the Smartest," as well as analysis using the "Random map" and SWOT methods. In the first stage, students were tasked with quickly identifying which zhyrau's work was being quoted. In the second stage, "Doda," students chose cells on the Wordwall platform and worked with materials related to Margaska-zhyrau’s heritage. In the third stage, "Video Question," questions were posed with the help of AI. The video questions and assignments focused on relevant issues related to the creativity of Margaska-zhyrau.
During the seminar, the publications of Margaska-zhyrau's works in the 19th-20th centuries and research on the subject were also discussed. The lesson took into account the political and social situation of the 14th-15th centuries, which allowed for the analysis of the main developmental directions, artistic features, and genre variety of Margaska-zhyrau’s creativity. PhD students of the first year in "Literary Studies," led by G.M. Mujigova, explored the connection between the heritage of zhyrau and subsequent traditions of Kazakh literature, as well as identified the specific features of works from that period.
The lesson was conducted at a high level, and the "Three Words" method was used for feedback. The students actively participated in the seminar, which was very well organized.
