Realistic features in the works by M. Auezov

On March 19, 2025, within the framework of SDG 4: Quality Education the educational event on the topic: "Realistic features in the works by M. Auezov" was held under the project "Quality Education." The event was organized by the senior lecturers of the Department of Kazakh Literature and Literary Theory at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Ph.D. G. Zh. Bolatova and Sh. A. Shortanbay together with the first-year PhD students majoring in "8D01701 - Kazakh Language and Literature."
The main aim of the open educational event was to help the students understand the essence of realism in M. Auezov’s works and to demonstrate the writer's role in Kazakh literature. Another objective was to promote national spirit, humanistic values, and to develop critical thinking skills regarding life and society through the works of M. Auezov.
Additionally, during the educational event, the second-year students of the "Literary Studies" major discussed the main features of realism in Auezov’s works. The characters from "The Path of Abai" novel and "Kokserek" story were analyzed in terms of their role in society and their behavior. The students participated in an engaging quiz, answered the questions related to the writer’s works. The event led to a debate on how the characters and events in "The Path of Abai" are connected and how social issues in Kazakh society are portrayed.
At the conclusion of the educational event, the students fully understood the significance of realism in M. Auezov’s works. They noted that his works depict not only the fate of individual characters but also the societal conditions of that time. The event gave the students an opportunity to deepen their understanding of national literature and appreciate its historical and cultural significance.
