“The Impact of Technology on Climate Change”

On March 27, 2025, an international student round table on the topic: “The Impact of Technology on Climate Change” was held, organized by teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Philological Faculty. The event was held online, in English, in accordance with the approved annual action plan for the SDGs of the Department of Foreign Languages, in order to implement SDG 13: Combating Climate Change. The participants of the round table were students from different universities of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Afghanistan. In particular, with the participation of students of Al-Farabi KazNU, ENU named after L.N. Gumilyov, Bolu Abant Izzet Baisal University, Turkey, Nukus Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages and Nukus Innovation Institute. Participants discussed one of the most relevant and pressing topics of our time – the impact of technology on climate change in the context of Sustainable Development Goal 13 Climate Action. Climate Change is a global problem that affects all aspects of our lives, and technology can be both a solution and part of the problem. In their presentations, participants have showed how modern advances in science and technology are opening up new horizons for combating climate change and how innovations in renewable energy, smart technologies and sustainable agriculture can significantly reduce carbon footprints and help adapt to changes already underway. They have considered many aspects of the impact of technologies on climate change and have come to the conclusion that it is up to us how we will use those technologies in the future.
