On March 27, 2025, the Department of Far East Studies held a seminar with the participation of 2nd-year students of the Department of Japanese Studies on the topic: SDG 4: Quality Education.

Goal - Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. Education lays the foundation for improving people's socio-economic conditions and plays a key role in ensuring a path out of poverty.

1.Progress in providing quality education was slower than required before the COVID-19 pandemic, but the pandemic has had a devastating impact on education, causing learning losses in four-fifths of the 104 countries covered by the survey.

2.Without additional action, only one in six countries will reach the target of ensuring that all children complete secondary school by 2030, some 84 million children and youth will still be out of school, and some 300 million students will still lack the basic numeracy and literacy skills they need to succeed in life.

     3. On average, 79 low- and lower-middle-income countries still lack the funding they need to meet Goal 4 targets by $97 billion per year.

4.To achieve Goal 4, education financing must be prioritized as a national investment priority. Actions should also include making education free and compulsory, increasing the number of teachers, improving basic school infrastructure, and implementing digital transformation.
