National Kurultai: Uniting the Nation

31 march, 2025

On March 31, 2025, at the Faculty of Philology,  the Senior Lecturer of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies, Indira Kairatkyzy Azimbaeva,  and the  first-year master’s  degree students of  “Foreign Philology (Western Languages)” major, Roza Bekenova and Almira Kairat, held an open curatorial event  on the topic:  “National Kurultai: Uniting the Nation.” The event was conducted within the framework of SDG 16 “Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions” and  SDG 17 “Partnerships for the Goals.” The primary goal of the event  was to explain the significance of the National Kurultai, increase  the students’ interest in socio-political changes, and create a platform for open dialogue.

During the event,  the students extensively discussed the purpose and role of the National Kurultai and its impact on Kazakh society. A role-play exercise was conducted, where   the participants acted as members of different sections, presenting their proposals.  The students focused on  the topics such as “Education and Science,” “Social Development,” and “Culture,” suggesting  the solutions to pressing issues.  The international students studying in Kazakhstan actively participated in the event. They shared experiences from their countries, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and cooperation in a multicultural society and achieving sustainable development goals. The significance of friendship among peoples and intercultural understanding was highlighted. For feedback, students used the “Exit Ticket” method, writing down the three most important ideas they took away from the session. This method helped evaluate their impressions and understanding of new knowledge.

The curatorial event  was marked by active discussions, thought-provoking questions, and innovative ideas. Students freely expressed their opinions, gaining new knowledge and experience. The event  fostered their civic engagement and strengthened their commitment to addressing pressing issues.
