Round Table Discussion on the topic: “Clean Water is a Source of Life”

On April 2, 2025, a round table event titled “Water is a  Source of Life” was held at the Higher School of Economics and Business of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was organized by  the senior lecturers of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature, Zh.T. Abdullaeva and S.S. Koilybayeva, together with the  first-year students of the Finance-K1 and Accounting and Audit majors, within the framework of SDG 6 “Clean Water and Sanitation.”
 The students delivered presentations on a pressing issue for Kazakhstan today – the shortage of clean water. During the discussion, they expressed their views on the need to use water sparingly, emphasizing the importance of conserving this strategically vital resource.
They also raised the issue of Kazakhstan’s dependence on the water resources of neighboring countries, which contributes to the shortage. The use of water resources must be negotiated with these countries, though such negotiations do not always favor Kazakhstan.
The discussion was lively, with students sharing personal experiences and proposing optimal solutions to this urgent global problem.
