Round table on “Biopolymers and Their Application Potential” was held

On April 10, 2025, the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a round table titled “Biopolymers and Their Application Potential”, organized in a hybrid format (online/offline).

The event aimed to discuss current research trends and practical applications of biopolymers in various fields — from environmental protection to medicine and nanotechnology. The round table brought together leading scientists, researchers, faculty members, and students from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Meruert Sakenovna Kurmanbayeva, delivered the welcome speech. The round table was moderated by Aida Serikovna Kistaubayeva, PhD in Biology, Associate Professor, and Head of the Department of Biotechnology.

The following presentations were delivered during the event:

Daulet Kaldybekov, PhD, Associate Professor – Development of New Mucoadhesive Systems for Intravesical Drug Delivery;

Toғzhan Mukasheva, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor – Exopolysaccharides of Mucus-Producing Bacteria;

Natalya Vedyashkina, PhD, Senior Researcher – Anti-Burn Hydrogels Based on Microbial Polysaccharides;

Sirina Zhantlesova, PhD, Senior Researcher – Bacterial Cellulose as a Biopolymer for the Immobilization of Probiotics for Their Protection and Delivery to the Gastrointestinal Tract.

At the conclusion of the event, a resolution was adopted by the participants, highlighting the high relevance and promising potential of biopolymers in both scientific research and practical applications.
