SDG-15: The "Darmarka" environmental campaign took place

On April 22, the Faculty of Information Technology of our university hosted the “Darmarka” environmental campaign. Today, the protection of the environment and the rational use of natural resources have become urgent global issues. In this regard, fostering ecological awareness and developing sustainable consumption habits within society are among the key steps toward achieving sustainable development.
To support this objective, since November 2024, the Association of Environmental Organizations of Kazakhstan has been implementing the fifth phase of the “Stop Musor” (Stop Garbage) social project. The project aims to reduce household waste, improve ecological literacy among the population, and strengthen the culture of social responsibility.
As part of this project, the “Darmarka” campaign offered an alternative solution to the problems of overconsumption and increasing waste. Participants had the opportunity to exchange items they no longer use but are still in good condition, offering them a second life while receiving something they may need in return.
This approach, on one hand, promotes reuse and extends the life cycle of goods, and on the other hand, helps to reduce the resource and energy costs involved in the production, transportation, and packaging of new products.
The “Darmarka” campaign served as an excellent platform for promoting environmental responsibility among young people, students, and the general public, while also encouraging a culture of mindful consumption. It is a simple yet impactful environmental step that can be incorporated into everyday life.
