Open Meeting with Marriott International delegation at Al-Farabi KazNU
On April 23, 2025, an open meeting with representatives of the international hotel chain Marriott International took place at the Library of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was organized by the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism and featured the participation of Mr. Alexander Sell, CEO of The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty, who led the visiting delegation.
This initiative was held within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically targeting quality education and the promotion of graduate employment through international cooperation and practical engagement with the hospitality industry.
The program of the event included:
- A presentation of the Voyager Internship and Leadership Development Program, which offers students and young professionals the opportunity to build an international career in the hotel industry;
- Direct interaction with representatives of the HR Department of Marriott International, who shared insights into career pathways, corporate values, and global recruitment practices;
- An open Q&A session, where students were able to ask questions and receive firsthand information about internships and job prospects within one of the world's leading hotel networks.
The meeting brought together students and faculty of the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism, who actively participated and engaged in dialogue with the Marriott team. For many, it was a unique chance to connect directly with industry leaders and explore global career opportunities.
The event marked a significant step in KazNU’s mission to enhance student employability, expand international partnerships, and strengthen the practical orientation of education in tourism and hospitality.
