The Round Table: "The Spread of Waterborne Infections and Their Prevention Measures"

21 april, 2025

On April 16, 2025, an important scientific and educational event — a round table — was held in the meeting room of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. First-year master's students from the Faculty of Medicine and Public Health presented reports on the topic "The Spread of Waterborne Infections and Measures for Their Prevention." The event was also attended by third-year undergraduate students and faculty members. The reports by the master's students thoroughly examined the causative agents of infectious diseases such as cholera, typhoid, hepatitis A, dysentery, and other waterborne diseases, their transmission routes, the epidemiological situation, and preventive measures. The analysis was based on official data from the World Health Organization (WHO) and current epidemiological indicators from Kazakhstan. Additionally, the round table focused on water safety plans developed by WHO, sanitary and epidemiological requirements, and the importance of public responsibility for water resources. Participants were provided with information on a multidisciplinary approach to water safety management, the role of healthcare management, and the importance of effective public feedback. At the conclusion of the event, an open discussion was held, and thorough answers were provided to the audience's questions. Participants highly appreciated the students' scientific preparedness and their in-depth understanding of the topic. The round table contributed to combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience and broadening the professional horizons of future specialists. The speakers included first-year master's students: Ikramova S.S., Sarsembekova N.K., Bekenov D.K., Baisynov N.B., Saybi A., and Bolat B. The faculty expressed gratitude to the students for their work and emphasized the importance of regularly holding such scientific and educational events.
