First-Year Student of the Department of Chinese Studies Wins at International Competition

On May 15–16, 2025, the national finals of the 24th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students took place in Astana. A total of 44 participants, selected through regional qualifying rounds across Kazakhstan, competed in the event. Contestants showcased their fluency in the Chinese language, knowledge of Chinese culture, literature, history, and traditions, and also demonstrated their creativity through singing, dancing, and delivering speeches in Chinese.

As a result, the Grand Prix was awarded to Doskhan Kanapiyauly, a first-year student of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Department of Chinese Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. This year, he represented the university on behalf of the Confucius Institute. His participation was supervised by Confucius Institute instructor Zhanar Bazartai.
