​​​​​​​Alumni Meeting at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences

On May 30, the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences celebrated Alumni Day in accordance with university traditions. The total number of graduates in 2025 from the faculty amounted to 812, including 692 bachelor's degree holders, 96 master's degree holders, and 24 doctoral graduates.

The event was attended by 115 alumni from various milestone years, including those who graduated 55, 50, 30, 25, 15, 10, and 5 years ago. Professors and lecturers from the departments of Geography, Land Management, and Cadastre; Meteorology and Hydrology; Cartography and Geoinformatics; Recreational Geography and Tourism; and the UNESCO Department for Sustainable Development also participated in the event.

The attending milestone alumni have achieved significant success in various fields of the country, serving as exemplary figures for younger generations. Among them are: R.E. Bersinbayev – Head of the "ISKANDER Law Firm," K.B. Samarkhanov – Candidate of Geographical Sciences, PhD, a leading expert in GIS in Kazakhstan, and Chief Scientific Officer of the Astana International Scientific Complex, D.B. Abilganiev – Director of the Almaty State Nature Reserve, D.M. Burlibayeva – Executive Director of the Department of Ecology and Sustainable Development at the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea in Kazakhstan, A.R. Zhumalipov – Head of the Admissions Office at Al-Farabi KazNU, Y.K. Adilbekov – Head of the Military Department at the Agrarian University, PhD, Associate Professor, Zh. Sibekova – Head of the Engineering Survey Department at "Aksaygazproject" LLP, N. Boribekov – Executive Director of the JKL Kokpar Federation, among others.

A lunch was organized for the alumni, during which talented young students from the faculty performed songs, and the "Milliard" comedy team entertained the guests.

In honor of Alumni Day, a comprehensive renovation of the 4B5A auditorium of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences was carried out. This initiative was funded by the financial support of a 20-year graduate of the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism – N.S. Alaguzov, Director of "AlmatyBlagoStroy Group" LLP, and the grand opening of the updated auditorium was held.
