Environmental Education in Action: Field Lecture for Ecology Students

2 june, 2025

As part of the ALMA-KIKA initiative and in celebration of Ecologist Day, Associate Professors G.A. Sadyrova and A.K. Tanybayeva from the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development conducted a field lecture for second-year Ecology students.

The event took place at the agrobiostation of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, located in the village of Baiserke. Students attended a lecture on biodiversity conservation, followed by a practical session where they learned how to collect herbarium specimens, studied plant structure, and explored other field research techniques.

Such outdoor educational activities play an important role in developing students’ professional competencies and fostering a sense of responsibility for environmental protection.
