Department of the Chinese Studies Took Part in the Opening of the “Silk Road” Literary Week at KazNU

On May 31, 2025, the official opening ceremony of the “Silk Road” Literary Week was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. This international event aims to strengthen cultural dialogue between countries located along the historic Silk Road.

The ceremony was attended by Hu Heping, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Chairman of the Board and Rector of KazNU, Azamat Kaldybekov, Deputy Akim of Almaty, Jiang Wei, Consul General of the PRC in Almaty, Li Hongwen, Executive Director of the China National Publications Import & Export Corporation, as well as professors, researchers, students, and guests.

The faculty members of the Department of Chinese Studies, together with the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, N. B. Yem, actively participated in the event. The department representatives organized an informational booth showcasing their educational programs, academic projects, and achievements in the field of Chinese studies.

As part of the week, the Chinese delegation donated 100 of China’s best books to the Farabi Library, making a valuable contribution to the development of educational and academic cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.
