
On May 24, the 28th Central Asian Japanese Speech Contest was held at Narxoz University. Among 18 participants from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, Riza Rysbakhova, a second-year student from the Department of Japanese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, also took part. She had earned her place in the contest by winning a prize at the 28th Republican Japanese Speech Contest held on March 15 at Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages.
Although Riza did not make it into the list of winners, who were selected by a jury including H.E. Yasumasa Inoue, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Kazakhstan; Mr. Ippei Shimizu, Chairman of the Japanese Business Association in Kazakhstan; Mr. Hideki Nakamura, Chairman of the Japanese Association in Kazakhstan; and Japanese language teachers from various countries — she gave a commendable performance and made her instructors proud.
It is also worth mentioning that Madina Shadaeva, senior lecturer at the Department of Japanese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, KazNU, served on the contest jury as a representative of the Association of Japanese Language Teachers of Kazakhstan.
