KazNU Sinologists Participated in an International Conference in China

From June 13 to 15, 2025, the city of Xi’an (PRC) hosted an international scientific conference titled "Issues in the Study of Central Asian Countries in the Context of Regional and Area Studies." The main organizers were the Chinese Association for the Study of Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia, the School of Regional Studies of the Chinese Association for Higher Education, and the Northwestern Polytechnical University. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University participated as a co-organizer.
The conference aimed to strengthen academic, educational, and cultural ties between China and Central Asian countries within the framework of the "Belt and Road" initiative. Held on the campus of the Northwestern Polytechnical University, the event gathered scholars from all five Central Asian countries, including several leading researchers from Kazakhstan.
The Department of Chinese Studies at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of KazNU was represented by five faculty members: Yerzhan Kerimbaev, Fatimabibi Daulet, Ardak Kaliolla, Aizhan Koibakova, and Gulmira Katbayeva. All presented their research in Chinese, which attracted great interest from the participants.
Such conferences contribute to the development of international academic cooperation and highlight the growing engagement of Kazakh researchers in the global scientific community.
