The 90th Anniversary of Prominent Kazakh Hydrologist Saken Kalamkaliuly Dauletkaliyev

On June 18, 2025, the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted a ceremonial event marking the 90th anniversary of the prominent scholar, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Professor Saken Kalamkaliuly Dauletkaliyev.

Professor Dauletkaliyev is one of the founders of Kazakh hydrology, who dedicated his entire career to hydrological forecasting and the statistical assessment water resources. He is the author of more than 250 scientific publications and has educated generations of students and young researchers.

The event was attended by faculty members, senior scientists, students, and young hydrologists. Among the honored guests were Aisulu Alashevna Tursunova, Candidate of Geographical Sciences and Head of the Water Resources Laboratory of the Institute of Geography and Water Security, and Talgat Kumargaliyevich Mekebaev, Chairman of the University’s Trade Union.

The ceremony featured heartfelt speeches, scientific reflections on Professor Dauletkaliyev’s contributions to hydrology, and memories shared by his colleagues and students. The event also included the presentation of a special letter of appreciation from the Rector and a Silver Badge of Honor.

His students and colleagues warmly recalled his scientific integrity, personal values, and dedication to the nation, offering congratulations and commemorative gifts.

Organized at the faculty level, the event served to honor the academic legacy of the distinguished scholar and to inspire future generations of hydrologists.

Saken Kalamkaliuly Dauletkaliyev’s name will undoubtedly remain inscribed in golden letters in the history of Kazakh science.
