Partnerships with Sangmen University are being strengthened

Erkin Duisenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board and First Vice–Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, met with a delegation from Sangmyong University (South Korea) to discuss areas of cooperation in academic and scientific fields.

In his welcoming speech, the First Vice-rector informed the honored guests about the status of KazNU as a leading research university, whose infrastructure includes 16 faculties, 8 research institutes and more than 140 research centers and laboratories. The University has partnerships with 60 Korean universities and organizations, including Seoul National University, universities of Gangnam, Busan, Dongguk, Yongse, Kookmin and others. The Faculty of Oriental Studies of KazNU is a center for training specialists with knowledge of oriental languages in Kazakhstan, and the International Center for Korean Studies is also successfully operating at the university.

In response, the rector of Sangmyong University, Hong Songtae, briefly spoke about a private university in South Korea, founded in 1937, with two campuses in Seoul and Cheonan. The University is known for its strong programs in humanities and natural sciences, business and the arts, active international activities and sustainable development of educational projects.

"Our cooperation with KazNU opens up new horizons for graduate students and young scientists from both countries. We appreciate the potential of Korean and Kazakh specialists and intend to develop joint educational and research projects", - said the rector of Sangmyong University in his speech.

The meeting ended with an exchange of views on cooperation aimed at strengthening partnership opportunities in education and science.
