KazNU has launched the academic program "Artificial Intelligence and Media"

For the first time in Kazakhstan, the Faculty of Journalism at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has officially registered an academic program titled “Artificial Intelligence and Media.” This program marks an important step in preparing a new generation of professionals who combine expertise in media and modern technologies.
As part of the new program, future media specialists will study disciplines such as artificial intelligence, neural networks, big data processing, data science, Python programming, and other related subjects. To ensure an interdisciplinary approach, instructors from the Faculty of Information Technologies will also be involved in the teaching process. Moreover, students will have access to the university’s supercomputer resources.
The program is offered in three languages: Kazakh, Russian, and English. Currently, it is implemented as a two-year scientific-pedagogical master’s degree. In the future, a corresponding undergraduate program is also planned.
This initiative is part of Farabi University’s broader efforts to implement the National Concept for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2024–2029. Furthermore, it serves as a concrete example of the national policy - outlined by the Head of State - aimed at integrating artificial intelligence technologies into education and science. Today, the university has entered a full-scale phase of incorporating AI into the academic process.
