On September 26, 2025, the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics of the Faculty of Law of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Personal Data Protection: the Era of Digital Transformation of modern Kazakh Society", organized by the Kazakhstan Criminological Association, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University together with Toraigyrov University. Prominent legal scholars and public figures from Russia, Poland, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan (Doctor of Law, Professor) spoke at the conference. Matskevich I. M. The discussion focuses on the digital profile of a citizen, the improvement of legislation on personal data, and international mechanisms for their protection. The Conference strengthened international scientific cooperation and showed that personal data protection is a key factor in the sustainable development of society in the context of digital transformation.

The event is aligned with the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 16 “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions” and SDG 17 “Partnerships for the Goals”, while also contributing to the achievement of SDG 4 “Quality Education”.
