Meeting with KazNU Students on Mineral Resource Exploration Technologies

On October 1, 2025, at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Department of Computational Sciences and Statistics (Room 509), a meeting was held between the project executors of “Development of technologies for forecasting and exploration of ore-raw material areas based on the analysis of the unified subsoil users’ platform Minerals.gov.kz using artificial intelligence and remote sensing methods” and the department’s students. The scientific supervisor of the project is Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor N.M. Temirbekov.
During the meeting, the relevance of the strategic tasks outlined in the Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.-J. Tokayev dated September 1, 2021, regarding the development of geological research, was emphasized. In particular, issues related to strengthening the country’s mineral resource base, improving the accessibility of geological information, and introducing modern technologies were discussed.
🔬 The main goal of the program is to develop new technologies for identifying ore-prospective areas through the analysis of data from the unified platform Minerals.gov.kz using artificial intelligence and remote sensing methods.
The meeting discussed the processing of geological data with artificial intelligence, the integration of machine learning into the Minerals.gov.kz platform, the mapping of mineral indicators based on satellite data, and the development of new algorithms.
Such meetings contribute to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular:
🎓 SDG 4 “Quality Education” — development of students’ competencies in innovative technologies;
🏭 SDG 9 “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure” — promoting research and application of artificial intelligence;
🤝 SDG 17 “Partnerships for the Goals” — strengthening cooperation between the university and alumni working at the international level.
