The Students attended a screening of The Last Emperor by Bernardo Bertolucci .
On October 6, 2025,the first-year students of the Faculty of Journalism (specialty "Cinema and Media") took part in a significant cultural event. Under the guidance of teachers of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature, Mereke Sabyrzhanova and senior lecturer Nazgul Tilepbergenovna Edrenova, the first–year students attended a screening of "The Last Emperor” cult film by Bernardo Bertolucci.
The film screening was presented by the famous Kazakhstani writer, director and public figure Ermek Tursunov. In his speech, he noted: "Cinema is not only an art, but also a mirror of history. “The Last Emperor” teaches us to understand how epochs change, and with them the fate of people. It is important for young media professionals to see not only the picture, but also to be able to read the meanings that are hidden behind it."
After watching, the students showed great interest in the discussion: they asked questions, shared their impressions and analyzed the key ideas of the film. During the discussion, the topics of cultural dialogue, historical memory, the peculiarities of directing and the role of art in shaping the worldview were touched upon. Such meetings contribute not only to the development of cultural horizons and the formation of aesthetic taste, but also to strengthening the professional skills of future specialists in the field of journalism, cinema and media.
